Humane Sagar Dies at AIIMS Bhubaneswar: Fans Mourn the Loss of Beloved Odia Singer

The Odia music industry was left shaken on Monday evening after the heartbreaking news that popular playback singer Humane Sagar died at AIIMS Bhubaneswar, where he had been undergoing intensive treatment for more than 72 hours. His sudden passing at just 34 has created a wave of grief across Odisha, with fans, colleagues, and political leaders expressing deep sorrow over the loss of a voice that defined an entire generation of modern Odia music.

Doctors at AIIMS-Bhubaneswar confirmed that the singer had been under continuous monitoring since his emergency admission three days earlier. Specialists had placed him on advanced life-support systems to stabilise his condition, but despite their efforts, his health showed no improvement. Earlier in the day, his ex-wife had shared that there had been no significant progress, preparing fans for the worst even as they prayed for a miracle.

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi was among the first to offer condolences, calling Humane Sagar’s death an “irreparable loss” to the state’s music and cinema. His message on X echoed the emotion many felt — that Odisha had lost not just a singer, but a cultural symbol whose songs had become woven into people’s memories and milestones. Tributes from fans poured in throughout the evening, with social media filled with his melodies, heartfelt notes, and nostalgic clips from concerts and films.

Humane Sagar’s journey was nothing short of extraordinary. Born on 25 November 1990 in Titilagarh, he grew up surrounded by music, mentored by his father and grandfather who were both music directors. His life changed dramatically when he won “Voice of Odisha Season-2” in 2012, a victory that transformed him from a small-town dreamer into one of Ollywood’s most sought-after voices. His 2015 playback debut in Ishq Tu Hi Tu became a milestone, catapulting him to mainstream fame and opening doors to collaborations with top stars and composers.

Over the years, he recorded more than 150 songs in over 50 films and nearly 200 album tracks, delivering chart-topping hits like Mu Pardesi Chadhei, Sehzadi O Sehzadi, Gote Sua Gote Saari, Nishwasa To Bina Chalena, and Pyar Bala Hichki. Despite professional success, his personal life carried emotional turbulence, from marital controversies to the grief of losing his father, struggles that often reflected in the raw emotion of his voice.

Today, Odisha remembers not just a playback singer, but a voice that carried pain, passion, and purity — a voice that will continue to echo long after his passing.
